Maharashtra: Political Stir As Vinod Tawde Appeals For Eknath Khadse’s Return To BJP

Mumbai, 5th June 2023: BJP’s National General Secretary Vinod Tawde’s appeal for the return of senior leader Eknath Khadse to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has sparked political discussions and debates in the political circles.

Tawde emphasized the value of Khadse’s extensive knowledge of rural Maharashtra and expressed his belief that a leader of his stature should be a part of the BJP. However, Tawde clarified that he has not engaged in any discussions with Khadse or the party leadership regarding this matter, nor has he made any formal proposal.

Khadse, who had parted ways with the BJP due to conflicts and disputes with Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has been openly critical of Fadnavis both during his time within the party and after his departure.

Khadse’s son-in-law has also been under arrest for the past two years in connection with a land misappropriation case in Bhosari, Pune.
Nevertheless, Khadse’s recent expression of his desire to return has triggered a significant discussion.

Following the BJP’s setback in the Karnataka assembly elections, where former Chief Minister Yeddyurappa was sidelined from the campaign, the party has begun reflecting on its strategies and addressing the discontent among senior leaders in preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections next year.

Against this backdrop, if Khadse seeks to rejoin the BJP, discussions will take place between Fadnavis, state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule, and local leaders to determine the appropriate course of action. However, Tawde stressed that Khadse would be required to adhere to the BJP’s principles and discipline.

The appeal made by Vinod Tawde has triggered speculation and raised questions about the potential implications for the BJP’s political landscape in Maharashtra. As discussions and negotiations unfold, the decision regarding Khadse’s return to the party is expected to have significant ramifications for the future political dynamics in the state.
