Kashi Tamil Sangamam 4.0: Indian Railways Runs Seven Special Trains from Tamil Nadu to Banaras
Varanasi, 02 December 2025: Indian Railways is operating a series of seven special trains between Kanniyakumari, Chennai, Coimbatore and Banaras to facilitate travel for participants of Kashi Tamil Sangamam 4.0, which begins today. The services have been scheduled to manage high passenger movement and ensure long-distance connectivity from key Tamil Nadu cities.
Special Departures From Tamil Nadu
The first service left Kanyakumari on 29 November 2025, followed by a special departure from Chennai today. Additional trains are scheduled to depart:
Coimbatore on 3 December
Chennai on 6 December
Kanyakumari on 7 December
Coimbatore on 9 December
Chennai on 12 December
With these seven planned departures, Indian Railways is operating coordinated special services from Tamil Nadu to Banaras through mid-December.

Event Overview
Kashi Tamil Sangamam 4.0 is centred on the theme “Let Us Learn Tamil – Tamil Karkalam”, featuring Tamil learning initiatives in Varanasi schools, study tours for students from Kashi to Tamil Nadu, and the Sage Agastya Vehicle Expedition from Tenkasi to Kashi. The programme involves multiple ministries, with IIT Madras and Banaras Hindu University as knowledge partners.
