Former Punjab CM Channi Joins Bharat Jodo Yatra

Chandigarh, 21st December 2022: Former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, who went to America after being away from active politics after the defeat in the assembly elections, is now increasing political activism again. After meeting Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and national president Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday, Channi joined Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra in Rajasthan on Tuesday. After coming back from abroad, Channi is seen next to the Congress’s high command. He has not reached Punjab yet.

Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra is reaching Punjab in January. Channi’s return and meeting with senior Congress leaders just before the visit has become a talking point as the 2022 assembly elections were fought under his leadership.

The Punjab Congress is yet to take a final decision regarding the route of the march in Punjab. Congress leaders are tussling to connect this yatra with their district. On Tuesday, a meeting was held in the Punjab Congress office. In the meeting chaired by party MLA Rana Gurjit Singh, it was decided that a senior local leader would be made in charge of the route through which the yatra would be taken out.

According to a proposed route, the yatra will reach Pathankot from the Shambhu border via Khanna, Samrala, Raho, Nawanshahar, Garhshankar, Dasuha, Tanda, Dumtal of Himachal Pradesh. The second route is from Jalandhar to Pathankot, proceeding on GT Road from the Shambhu border.
