Former MLC Vinayak Mete Died In Accident On Pune-Mumbai Expressway, ‘Didn’t Get Help For 1 Hour’

Navi Mumbai, 14th August 2022: Politician Vinayak Mete today died in a road accident on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway. His SUV was badly damaged.

 

His driver and bodyguard are also injured in the accident which took place in Madap tunnel around 5 am. They were rushed to MGM Hospital in Kamothe where Mete succumbed to injuries. He was going from Beed to Mumbai.

 

Mete’s colleague Eknath Kadam was also with him at this time. Talking about the accident, he said that the accident took place when a truck tried to overtake. No help was received for about one hour. I called 100 number many times but nobody picked up the phone. I begged for help but no one stopped the vehicle. The accident took place around 5 am and help arrived around 6 am.

 

Mete (52) was the chief of the Shiv Sangram party. He was elected unopposed to the Maharashtra Legislative Council on 3 June 2016. This was a consecutive term for him. He was a member of Nationalist Congress Party until 2014.

 

He was candidate from Bharatiya Janata Party in 2014 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly election from Beed (Vidhan Sabha constituency) but lost to Jaydutt Kshirsagar of Nationalist Congress Party.
