Congress to Launch Lok Sabha Election Campaign at Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra Finale in Mumbai

Mumbai, 8th March 2024: The Congress party is set to kickstart its campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections during the concluding ceremony of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi. The event is scheduled to take place at Shivaji Park in Mumbai on March 17, as announced by Maharashtra party chief Nana Patole. The yatra, entering the state from Nandurbar on March 12, is on the verge of completion with all necessary preparations in place.

Nana Patole emphasized that permissions for the concluding rally at Shivaji Park have been secured, and leaders from the Maha Vikas Aghadi, including the Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP led by Sharad Pawar, will participate in the event. Patole stated, “We (Congress) will sound the poll bugle for the Lok Sabha elections there.”

During a review meeting on Thursday, Congress leaders, in the presence of the party’s state in-charge Ramesh Chennithala, discussed the yatra’s progress and upcoming plans.

Patole took the opportunity to criticize the BJP, accusing them of poaching opposition leaders ahead of the general elections. He alleged that the BJP is resorting to this strategy because it lacks competent candidates of its own. Patole also commented on the omission of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari from the BJP’s first list of candidates, expressing surprise and asserting that the Congress has strong candidates for Nagpur and Sangli, confidently predicting victories in these constituencies.

In the previous 2019 general elections, the BJP won 23 constituencies, the undivided Shiv Sena secured 18 seats, the NCP received four seats, and the Congress, AIMIM, and an Independent candidate each won one seat.
