Srinagar, 12th June 2023: On Sunday, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde met Lt. Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, and appealed him to allocate land for the construction of Maharashtra Bhavan in Srinagar.

During his three-day visit to Kashmir, Shinde held a meeting with Lt. Governor Sinha, where Member of Parliament from Kalyan-Dombivali Shrikant Shinde was also present.

Shinde, in his meeting with Sinha, discussed various important matters of national interest and presented his proposal for the establishment of Maharashtra Bhavan in Srinagar. Recognising the significance of tourism, Shinde emphasised the mutual benefits that both states could gain from this initiative, as it would enhance cultural exchange and foster economic development.

In a formal letter submitted to Sinha, Shinde underscored the potential for Maharashtra Bhavan to serve as a prominent centre for students, entrepreneurs, and officials, thereby strengthening the bond between Maharashtra and Jammu and Kashmir. Maharashtra Bhavan in Srinagar would not only provide accommodation facilities for tourists but also showcase the rich art, cuisine, and cultural heritage of Maharashtra.

Shinde further said in the letter that Jammu and Kashmir has made significant progress in the last three to four years in terms of peace, stability, and tourism. This is the right time for both states to cordially extend their hands for each other’s development, thereby fostering the national interest.
