Bribery Case Update: Pune Division IAS Officer Dr Anil Ramod Suspended by Maharashtra Government

Pune, 22nd June 2023: Dr Anil Ganpatrao Ramod, an IAS officer of the 2011 batch in Maharashtra, has been suspended by the state government following his arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in a bribery case.

Dr Ramod currently holds the position of Additional Divisional Commissioner for Pune Division and serves as an Arbitrator for Satara, Pune, and Solapur Districts in an arbitration case of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) related to compensation enhancement.

The suspension order was issued by Prashant Sajanikar, Joint Secretary to the Government of Maharashtra, yesterday.

Dr Ramod was taken into custody on June 9, 2023, and presented before the CBI Special Court in Pune on June 10, 2023. He was subsequently remanded to police custody until June 13, 2023, exceeding a period of forty-eight hours.

In accordance with sub-rule (2)A of rule 3 of the All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969, Dr Anil Ramod, IAS, is considered to have been placed under suspension by the appointing authority since June 9, 2023, until further orders.

The suspension order further stipulates that during the period of suspension, Dr Anil Ramod shall receive a subsistence allowance, dearness allowances, and other admissible allowances as per rule 4 of the All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969, provided he certifies that he is not engaged in any other employment, business, profession, or vocation.

Additionally, it is specified that Dr Anil Ramod’s headquarters during the suspension period will be Pune, and he is not permitted to leave without obtaining prior permission from the Divisional Commissioner, Pune. Engaging in private employment or participating in any trade or business is strictly prohibited for him during the suspension.

Any violation of these conditions will be considered an act of misconduct, subjecting Dr Anil Ramod to further disciplinary action.

The suspension order serves as a measure to maintain the integrity of the ongoing investigation and ensure accountability within the administrative services.
