BJP State Working Committee Member Resigns, Joins RJD for Valmiki Nagar Seat

Bagaha, 3rd April 2024: Deepak Yadav, a BJP State Working Committee member in Bagaha, has tendered his resignation from the party, citing dissatisfaction with not being nominated as a candidate from Valmiki Nagar. Yadav has subsequently joined the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), enabling him to contest elections from Valmiki Nagar under the Grand Alliance banner. He has announced that Tejashwi Yadav, the leader of RJD, will visit Bagaha on April 7 to hold a grand rally, during which many workers are expected to join RJD.

Valmiki Nagar seat has been under the control of the NDA for the past 35 years. Despite RJD’s attempt in 2009 to secure the seat by nominating Raghunath Thakur and appealing to Brahmin voters, the electorate rejected Thakur, resulting in a third-place finish. Following this defeat, RJD did not field a candidate from this constituency. Now, for the second time, RJD is making an effort to win the Valmiki Nagar seat with the backing of an industrialist. Deepak Yadav, who is also the Managing Director of Sugar Meal, has joined RJD to bolster the party’s prospects.

It is anticipated that Tejashwi Yadav will personally visit Bagaha and unveil the candidate during a public meeting. The event is expected to draw a large crowd, including members from various political parties, potentially including disgruntled BJP members. Deepak Yadav hinted that RJD might officially announce its candidate for Valmiki Nagar during the event on April 7.

Thus far, RJD has not made significant inroads in Valmiki Nagar, making this election a challenging endeavour for the party. Nevertheless, the contest is expected to be fierce this time around.
