Bihar JDU Plans For Gujarat Elections With BTP

Bihar, 8th November 2022: Nitish Kumar, the Chief Minister of Bihar and the leader of Janata Dal-United (JDU), is also making up his mind to campaign against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Gujarat elections. Nitish Kumar, who ran the government in Bihar with BJP for a long time, is now with RJD-Congress. He is also going to knock on PM Modi’s home state in an attempt to make his presence outside Bihar before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Bihar’s ruling JDU on Monday said it is in talks with the Bharatiya Tribal Party (BTP), led by tribal leader Chhotubhai Vasava, to contest the elections in Gujarat. Vasava, a seven-time MLA from Gujarat’s Jhagadia seat, told media persons that he had spoken to Nitish Kumar about the alliance between JDU and BTP. “Nitish Kumar has agreed to contest the Gujarat elections in alliance,” he said.

The founding tribal leader of BTP said, “BTP and JDU are old friends, and hence we have decided to forge a pre-poll alliance. We will help JDU, and they will help us. Bihar Chief Minister will campaign in Gujarat. We aim to uproot the existing (BJP) power.”

Confirming this, JDU national general secretary Afaq Ahmed Khan in a conversation with Times of India, said that JDU is in talks with BTP to contest the assembly elections in Gujarat. Khan said, “Vasava is our own; he was the president of the JDU Gujarat unit till 2017. We are identifying those assembly seats where candidates can field,” he said.

“Even if we (JDU) cannot contest the elections, our leader Nitish Kumar will campaign against the BJP in Gujarat elections,” Khan said. Voting is going to take place in Gujarat on 1 and 5 December. BTP fielded candidates for six seats in the 2017 assembly elections and got success in two. Vasava resigned from the JDU in 2017 when Nitish again announced an alliance with the BJP. Now Nitish has once again separated from the BJP, so Vasava has announced an alliance.
