Arvind Kejriwal Spotted in Lucknow Amid Opposition Talks, BJP Criticizes Handling of Situation
Lucknow, 16th May 2024: Days after an incident involving Bibhav Kumar, an aide of Arvind Kejriwal, and Swati Maliwal, Kejriwal was seen alongside Kumar at Lucknow airport on Wednesday. Accompanying them was Aam Aadmi Party leader Sanjay Singh.
Kejriwal’s presence in Lucknow coincides with discussions among the Opposition INDIA bloc about a potential joint press conference involving Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav, and Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal.
In response, BJP leader Tajinder Bagga criticized Kejriwal’s handling of the situation and questioned the lack of action against Bibhav Kumar for his alleged misconduct towards Swati Maliwal.
Bagga referenced Singh’s earlier statement promising stern action against Kumar and accused Kejriwal of diverting attention by engaging Kumar in national tours.
Earlier in the week, Swati Maliwal, an AAP Rajya Sabha MP, accused a member of Kejriwal’s staff of “assault” at the Chief Minister’s residence. However, the police clarified that they had not received a formal complaint from Maliwal regarding the incident. A PCR call was made by Maliwal at 9.34 am, alleging assault at the Delhi Chief Minister’s residence. Although Maliwal visited the police station later, she left without filing a complaint, stating her intention to do so later. The call to the police was made from Maliwal’s mobile number, confirming her involvement in reporting the incident.
