A New Congress Has Been Inaugurated: Mallikarjun Kharge At 85th Congress Plenary Session

Raipur, 26th February 2023: Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge said on Sunday that the Raipur session of the party is formally coming to an end, and with this, a new Congress is being inaugurated. He said that representatives from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from Gujarat to Arunachal Pradesh were present at this convention.

Meanwhile, Kharge targeted the BJP government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that few people are looting the wealth of this country. “Modi ji is giving our money and property to one person by buying each (property) from us and with that money,” he said.

He said no other businessman was helped as much as the government helped Adani. For this, all Congress leaders and workers will “search for the truth.”

Kharge said that in the 138-year history of the Congress, 85 conventions have been held so far. Many decisions have been taken in these conventions, which changed the direction of the country. The basic ideas of many of the country’s important schemes related to public concern have come from our conventions.

He said that the idea of fundamental rights included in the Constitution of India also came from the Karachi session of 1931, and many of the same ideas have come from the session today. “In Raipur, under the same tradition, we finalized proposals including political, economic, international, agriculture, social justice, and others. We also passed six resolutions,” he said.

Kharge said that in the convention, it was decided to increase the number of members of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) from 25 to 35. A historic decision has been taken to give 50 per cent seats to SC, ST, OBC and women in the CWC. “Our discussions have been fruitful,” he said.
