Pune : PMC Releases Guidelines For Ganesh Festival and Navaratri
Pune 2nd Sept 2023: The Pune Municipal Corporation has released guidelines to be followed while celebrating Ganesh festival and Navratri in the city. The guidelines also include rules to be followed by the organisations and Ganesh Mandals during the festival.
Guidelines :
* Permits granted last year for pavilions, welcome arches etc. will be valid for the five years(counted from last year).
* For the Ganesh festivals organized by those associations who want to celebrate the festival or have faced obstacles due to the 2019 permit project or other reasons, they must obtain all new permits.
* As per the prevailing 2019 procedures, it is mandatory to take related permissions from all relevant regional offices and police stations.
* No fees will be charged by the municipal corporation for permits.
* All Ganesh Mandals should coat all permits obtained in 2019 or newly obtained permits in plastic coating on the visible part of the pavilion and the welcome arch.
* The height of festival pavilions should not exceed 40 feet. If the pavilion is taller than 40 feet, it must include a stability certificate from authorized architects.
* While setting up the pavilion and welcome arch, clearance should be provided for fire-fighting, medical facilities, and the passage of passenger buses. The height of the welcome arch should be more than 18 feet.
* Volunteers or security personnel should be appointed as needed.
* Give priority to eco-friendly Ganesh idols.
* Organizations, associations, groups, and citizens should contribute to environmental events.
* After the festival is over, all Ganesh Mandals should dismantle the pavilion, welcome arch, and lower the welcome arch within three days, and promptly remove literary materials on the roads.
* Holes dug on the roads for self-expenditure should be filled with cement concrete and made safe.
* If the municipal corporation feels the need for the place where the permit is given or disputes arise regarding that place, the municipal corporation has the right to cancel the permit before the festival starts.
* Compliance with the High Court’s orders is necessary for pavilions and welcome arches.
* Ganesh Mandals should take precautions to prevent noise pollution.
