Did BJP make a big mistake by making Eknath Shinde chief minister?
Mumbai, 2nd July 2022: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) may have returned to power in Maharashtra, but all is not looking well in the party. The main reason for this is Eknath Shinde becoming the Chief Minister instead of Devendra Fadnavis.
Its effect was also visible on the celebration of BJP organized outside the state headquarters on Friday afternoon. There, amidst the noise of the celebrations, there was also a silence. Fadnavis’s supporters were absent from here.
Fadnavis was denied the post of CM. He was ordered by the central leadership of BJP to join as Deputy CM. Fadnavis had announced just a few hours ago that he would not join the government, but would monitor it from outside.
Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis, who brought the BJP back to power in Maharashtra, also did not participate in the celebration organized at the state headquarters. Not only this, he will also not attend the party’s national executive meeting to be held in Hyderabad. Party sources said the central leadership has been informed that he will not attend the two-day special session of the state legislature.
Apart from Fadnavis, his close friends were also seen missing from the celebrations organized for the return of BJP to power. These are the same allies who were working with him continuously during the political crisis. It started with the victory in the third seat in the Rajya Sabha elections. However, many party workers were seen dancing holding a cutout of Fadnavis.
Fadnavis not attending the celebration surprised everyone. In the past, he has always attended functions held at the party office. Recently, after winning the Legislative Council elections on June 20, he addressed the workers outside the party office.
MLA Ashish Shelar, who was present at the celebrations, said that it is a celebratory function organized by the Mumbai unit of the party. Hence, MLAs from other parts of the state were not expected to attend.
Shelar said, “As far as Fadnavis not joining is concerned, the party has never announced that he will be joining.”
