UK-Based Gangster Suspected in Murder of Haryana INLD President Nafe Singh Rathee
Chandigarh, 27th February 2024: In a recent development, the Haryana Police suspect the involvement of a UK-based gangster in the killing of Nafe Singh Rathee, the Haryana unit president of the Indian National Lok Dal and former MLA. The police plan to interrogate a close associate of the gangster, currently in Tihar Jail, regarding the case. Sandeep, alias Kala Jathedi, another prominent gangster in Haryana, has already been questioned but denied any connection to Singh’s murder.
Nafe Singh Rathee and INLD worker Jai Kishan were fatally shot in their SUV by unidentified assailants near Delhi. The FIR names former MLA Naresh Kaushik, Karambir Rathee, Ramesh Rathee, Satish Rathee, Gaurav Rathee, Rahul, and Kamal, along with five unnamed accused. Rathee’s nephew, who was driving the vehicle, reported that the attackers spared his life to inform his family.
Facing criticism, Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij announced that the CBI will take over the investigation into Rathee’s killing. This development occurred amid accusations of a breakdown in the state’s law-and-order mechanism by opposition parties in the BJP-ruled state, just two months before the Lok Sabha polls.
