Tata Electronics, Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya Sign MoU to Build Semiconductor Industry Talent
New Delhi, 17 September 2026: Tata Electronics and Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on skilling and talent development for India’s semiconductor manufacturing sector.
The partnership will focus on developing industry-ready professionals and strengthening the talent pipeline for advanced semiconductor manufacturing infrastructure. The two organisations will work on academic and industry-oriented programmes covering areas including semiconductor facility engineering and infrastructure systems, project management, and logistics and supply chain.
The collaboration will also involve Tata Electronics partners L&T EduTech and Jacobs Solutions. The three industry organisations will provide subject matter expertise to GSV for developing specialised learning and skilling programmes.
As part of the partnership, the organisations will work on academic curriculum development, joint certification programmes and industry-oriented skilling initiatives. The programmes are intended to provide students and professionals with knowledge and practical skills relevant to semiconductor fabrication facility construction and operations.
Tata Electronics CEO and Managing Director Randhir Thakur said semiconductor fabrication facilities require specialised expertise across engineering, construction, infrastructure systems, project execution, manufacturing and supply chain management. He said the collaboration with GSV would focus on developing skills aligned with the requirements of semiconductor facilities and supporting infrastructure.
GSV Vice Chancellor Manoj Choudhary said the university would expand its academic and research offerings into emerging infrastructure and semiconductor-related areas through the partnership. He said the collaboration would provide students with exposure to industry requirements and specialised learning opportunities.
Tata Electronics is establishing a commercial semiconductor fabrication facility in Dholera, Gujarat, with a proposed investment of US$11 billion. The company said the facility is intended to serve sectors including automotive, mobile, Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, aerospace and defence.
GSV is a Central University established through an Act of Parliament with a mandate focused on transportation and logistics education, research and skilling. Its programmes cover technology, management and public policy through an interdisciplinary approach.
The MoU brings academic curriculum development, industry expertise and specialised skilling together under a collaboration aimed at preparing students and professionals for roles associated with semiconductor manufacturing and its supporting infrastructure.
