Strong Criticism from Eknath Shinde Over Opposition’s Alleged Likening of PM Modi to Aurangzeb

Mumbai, 22nd March 2024: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde strongly criticized the Opposition for likening Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Aurangzeb, emphasizing that such comparisons are derogatory to the nation. Reacting to Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Raut’s implied criticism of PM Modi, Shinde condemned the remarks, stating that they undermine the significant achievements of the Prime Minister, including the realization of Bal Thackeray’s vision of the Ram Mandir and the revocation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.

“It’s deeply regrettable to equate PM Modi, who has fulfilled Balasaheb Thackeray’s aspirations by abrogating Article 370, with Aurangzeb,” Shinde asserted. Highlighting PM Modi’s role in fulfilling Bal Thackeray’s dream of scrapping Article 370, Shinde stressed that likening him to the Mughal ruler is unfounded and unjust.

On Thursday, Sanjay Raut drew parallels between the political situation in Maharashtra and the actions of historical figures like Aurangzeb and Mohammad Ali Jinnah, without directly naming PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Raut’s comments drew attention to historical figures from Gujarat, suggesting similarities between their actions and those of contemporary political leaders from the same state.

Referring to Aurangzeb’s methods of governance and the divisive policies adopted by certain political figures, Raut implied a parallel between historical events and current political dynamics, cautioning against the repetition of history.

Sanjay Raut’s statements are indicative of his critical stance towards PM Modi and his administration, reflecting his role as a vocal critic within Maharashtra’s political landscape. Sanjay Raut’s remarks, while avoiding direct naming, underscored his pointed critique of PM Modi and other political opponents, aligning with his reputation for delivering sharp criticisms in political discourse.
