Reservation Activist Manoj Jarange Challenges BJP, Threatens to Block Victory in Maharashtra’s Lok Sabha Seats
Jalna, 16th March 2024: In a bold move, reservation activist Manoj Jarange has directly challenged the BJP, particularly targeting Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, vowing to block their victory in all 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra. This declaration sets the stage for a potentially contentious political battle in the state.
Jarange, supported by the Maratha community, has long been advocating for reservation within the existing OBC quota and the passage of the Sage Soyare law. Speaking at a large gathering in Wadavni, Beed, warned the BJP against defaming him, asserting that he would not allow any BJP candidates to succeed in the upcoming elections.
The activist also criticized Chief Minister Eknath Shinde for allegedly betraying the trust of the Maratha community.
In response to Jarange’s statements, Beed district police have taken action, registering two FIRs against him and his supporters. One FIR pertains to a late-night public gathering held two months ago, while the other accuses Jarange of making defamatory and provocative remarks against Fadnavis during a gathering at Tandalvadi Ghat, allegedly misusing a stage meant for religious purposes for political ends.
Beed Superintendent of Police Nand Kumar Thakur clarified that the probe into Jarange’s claims of injuries sustained during a lathi charge in Antarwali Sarati revealed them to be untrue, prompting the filing of an FIR against him.
These developments underscore the intensifying political tensions and legal repercussions surrounding Jarange’s activism and his confrontational stance against the BJP leadership.
