Pune Police Commissioner Urges Citizens to Report Illegal Businesses, Criminal Activity
Pune, 15th March 2024: In a bid to bolster community policing efforts, Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar emphasized the importance of citizen participation in reporting criminal activities during the ‘Dawat e Iftar’ program organized by Kondhwa Police Station at Kausarbagh Maidan on Thursday evening.
Commissioner Amitesh Kumar underscored the vital role citizens play in maintaining law and order by urging them to report any instances of criminal behavior, including illegal trading and drug trafficking, to the nearest police station or by dialing 112 without hesitation. Assuring swift action, Kumar reiterated the police department’s commitment to cracking down on lawbreakers and ensuring public safety.
The event witnessed the presence of prominent figures including MLA Chetan Tupe, former MLA Mahadev Babar, Yogesh Tilekar, Joint Commissioner of Police Praveen Pawar, Additional Commissioner of Police (East Region) Manoj Patil, DCP (Zone 5) R. Raja, and Assistant Commissioner Ganesh Ingle, Senior Police Inspector Santosh Sonwane, and Police Inspector (Crime) Mansingh Patil.
Also present on the occasion were ex-Corporator Gafoor Pathan, Sainath Babar, Nanda Lonkar, Hasina Inamdar, Zaheed Sheikh, as well as Maulana Idris Qadri, Sufi Anwar, Abid Syed, Rahul Dambale, Ali Daruwala, Sameer Ansar Sheikh etc.
Speaking at the gathering, Commissioner Amitesh Kumar extended heartfelt Ramadan greetings to the Muslim community and emphasized the significance of fostering harmony and cooperation between law enforcement agencies and citizens.
Highlighting the collaborative approach to maintaining law and order, Kumar assured citizens that those who provide information to the police will not face any repercussions. He reiterated that strict action will be taken against law violators, underscoring the police department’s unwavering commitment to upholding justice and ensuring the safety of Pune’s residents.
