Mohali, 8th June 2024: The local police FIR has reported an incident involving CISF constable Kulwinder Kaur and newly-elected BJP MP Kangana Ranaut at Mohali airport, alleging that Kaur slapped Ranaut. The FIR is based on a complaint filed by Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Inspector Surendra Kumar Sharma, who was accompanying Ranaut. According to Sharma’s complaint, Kaur emerged from her frisking booth and slapped Ranaut, with another woman police constable intervening to protect Ranaut.
As per the FIR obtained by News18, Ranaut was accompanied by four personnel, including a CISF inspector, two women police staff, and Vistara airline staff.
The FIR states, “On 6 June, Miss Kangana Ranaut, a film actress and newly-elected MP from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, was travelling from Chandigarh to Delhi by Vistara Flight No UK-707. She cleared PESC formalities with the assistance of CISF SHA Inspector Surendra Kumar Sharma, CISF Lady Officer Constable Suneet Kumar, local police lady officer Lady Constable Veerpal Kaur, and airline staff.”
“After completing PESC, she was proceeding towards the boarding gate when CISF Lady Constable Kulwinder Kaur, stationed at the adjacent ladies frisking booth, emerged and slapped Miss Kangana Ranaut. Lady Constable Veerpal Kaur then pushed Kulwinder Kaur back to her booth. Subsequently, Kangana Ranaut continued to her scheduled flight. An FIR is requested against CISF lady Constable Kulwinder Kaur for her misconduct with Miss Kangana Ranaut,” Sharma stated in his complaint, leading to the filing of the FIR.
Police confirmed reviewing CCTV footage of the incident, stating that Kaur stopped Ranaut, slapped her, and behaved inappropriately.
Kaur’s Response:
In a surfaced video after the incident, Kulwinder Kaur is heard conversing with a passenger about the reason for slapping Kangana Ranaut. Kaur responded, “She (Kangana) said during the farmer protest, women were sitting there for Rs 100. When she made this statement, my mother was present. Would Kangana sit at the protest?”
Kangana Ranaut’s Statement:
In a video message upon reaching Delhi, Kangana Ranaut confirmed her safety and mentioned receiving calls from the media and loved ones. She stated, “While at the airport, a CISF constable slapped me on my face and verbally abused me. When I questioned her, she claimed to support the farmer’s protest. However, my concern lies with the rise of terrorism in Punjab.”
