PM Modi’s Metro Journey: From Politics To Pop Culture, Sharing Experiences With Students

New Delhi, 30th June 2023: On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi opted for the metro to attend a centenary function at Delhi University and engaged in a friendly conversation with young individuals about the latest movies, OTT shows, and Instagram reels. The incident was captured on video, showing PM Modi entering the metro station and patiently waiting for the train amidst tight security. During the journey, he interacted with several youngsters and shared his own experiences.

Taking to Twitter, PM Modi expressed his contentment, saying, “On the way to the DU programme by the Delhi Metro. Happy to have youngsters as my co-passengers.” He also shared highlights of his conversation during the metro ride, remarking, “Coming to college becomes more joyful when you travel with colleagues. Friends together chat about everything from what is happening in Israel to the Moon.”

In an address to the university, PM Modi, like a student himself, recounted his metro ride and the fascinating discussions it encompassed. He inquired about the latest films watched, praised interesting series on OTT platforms, and asked if everyone had seen a particular Instagram reel. His enthusiasm added a lively touch to the function at the university.

PM Modi’s metro journey was in preparation for the valedictory ceremony of Delhi University’s centenary celebrations. Boarding the train at Lok Kalyan Marg metro station, he alighted at Vishwavidyalaya metro station on the Yellow Line, which happens to be the closest station to DU North Campus. As expected, there was a substantial security presence both at the metro stations and within the coach. Some students had the privilege of sitting next to the Prime Minister, while others stood, eagerly engaging in conversation with him.

One of the fortunate students who interacted with PM Modi described the experience as magnificent. Shivam Gupta, speaking to the news agency PTI, expressed his gratitude, stating, “I feel lucky that some of us got a chance to interact with the country’s prime minister up close and personal. It felt very extraordinary. And, I also got an opportunity to have a conversation with him while travelling on the way to our university.”

During the valedictory ceremony at Delhi University, PM Modi emphasized the importance of universities charting their course by focusing on innovation. He also made references to popular hangout spots for students, advising them not to change everything completely. He emphasized preserving the taste of tea and noodles at Patel Chest in North Campus and the momos at Chanakya in South Campus, urging students to ensure that their essence remains unchanged.
