PM Modi to Dedicate 75 Redeveloped Railway Stations Under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme on July 17; Baramati Among Key Upgraded Stations

New Delhi, 16th July 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate 75 redeveloped railway stations across the country under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) through video conferencing on July 17, 2026. The stations have been upgraded to improve passenger amenities, accessibility and station infrastructure as part of Indian Railways’ ongoing station redevelopment programme.

Among the stations being dedicated is Baramati railway station in Maharashtra’s Pune Division of Central Railway. Redeveloped at a sanctioned cost of ₹11.40 crore, the station now features a modern station building, upgraded passenger facilities, improved circulation areas, enhanced lighting, standardized signage, better sanitation facilities, improved parking arrangements and barrier-free access for Divyangjan passengers.

Baramati railway station serves around 1,800 passengers daily and handles eight passenger train services every day. Located in one of Maharashtra’s major agricultural and industrial regions, the station caters to commuters from an area known for its cooperative sugar industry, dairy sector, grape cultivation, food processing industries, engineering and medical manufacturing units, and educational institutions.

The redevelopment has been carried out under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, which aims to modernise railway stations while improving passenger convenience and operational efficiency. The upgraded station also includes modern waiting areas and improved approach roads.

Across the country, 1,337 railway stations have been identified for redevelopment under the scheme. In Maharashtra, 132 stations are part of the programme. With the latest inauguration, 15 redeveloped stations in the state have been dedicated to the nation.

The stations include Chinchpokli, Parel, Vadala Road, Matunga and Shahad on Mumbai Division; Kedgaon, Lonand and Baramati on Pune Division; Lasalgaon, Devlali, Savda, Dhule and Murtizapur on Bhusawal Division of Central Railway; and Chanda Fort, Itwari and Amgaon on the South East Central Railway.

Railway authorities said redevelopment work on the remaining identified stations across Maharashtra is progressing in phases under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
