Owaisi Slams Pakistan Over Rahim Yar Khan Airbase Strike, Calls for Global Action Against Terrorism
Hyderabad, 13th May 2025: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has sharply criticised Pakistan’s leadership and its international backers following the destruction of the Rahim Yar Khan airbase by the Indian Air Force. In a pointed post on X, Owaisi mocked Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir, questioning, “Will Shehbaz Sharif and Asim Munir be able to land their leased Chinese aircraft at Rahim Yar Khan Airbase?” His remarks came after the Indian strike rendered the airbase’s only runway inoperable, highlighting Pakistan’s dependence on Chinese military support.
Owaisi’s criticism extended beyond Pakistan’s military leadership to the country’s broader role in fostering regional instability. He labelled Pakistan a “global security threat,” urging the international community to take decisive action to dismantle its nuclear arsenal and halt the flow of funds that, he argued, fuel cross-border terrorism against India. Addressing a public gathering, Owaisi stated, “We have to stand solid like a wall against a country which threatens the whole world. At some point or another, world leaders have to decide if this country should even be allowed to have nuclear weapons. The nuclear weapons in this country should be disarmed and destroyed”.
Owaisi also called for Pakistan to be placed under international financial scrutiny, recommending its inclusion in the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) list and urging the UK government to ban terror-linked organisations operating from Pakistani soil. He emphasised the need for a global campaign against groups such as The Resistance Front (TRF), stating, “We should tell the US to declare it an international terrorist organisation because these people want to spread terror in India under the guise of jihad”.
Highlighting the significance of India’s recent military operations, Owaisi said, “India has a golden opportunity to expose Pakistan internationally. The real purpose of Operation Sindoor was to strike at terrorist training centres in Muridke and Bahawalpur, which our forces have successfully destroyed. He further urged China to pressure Pakistan to stop supporting terrorism, noting, “We import so much from China; now is the time to use that leverage”.
