Mumbai: FIR on Kajal Shingla but when will action be taken against the organizers? – Questions CPM
Mumbai, 26th April 2023: On March 12, Kajal Shingla alias Hindusthani of Gujarat made a hate speech against the Muslim and Christian community of Mira-Bhyander at a public meeting of the Hindu Jan Awach Morcha held at SK Stone ground, Mira Road.
“In her speech, Kajal had accused Mira Road of being a drug den, claiming that Muslim hawkers were selling products mixed with impotence drugs and that love jihad and land jihad were going on here. Using the terms ‘chadar wala’ and ‘father wala’, she targeted the Muslim and Christian minorities. This provocative march and speech created a wave of anger in the Meera-Bhyander area”, said Moin Ansar, Secretary, CPIM, Mira Bhayander.
A delegation led by Sadik Basha of Communist Party of India (Marxist), Sukhdev Banbansi of AAP and Sabi Fernandes of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray group) met the Commissioner of Police and demanded action against those who spoke hate speech as well as the organizers of ‘Jan Awach Morcha’.
Kajal has been booked by the local police under Sections 153 (a) and 505(2) of the IPC for giving a speech disturbing peace and communal harmony in the Mira Bhayandar area. “But Hindutva organizations like Shiv Pratisthan, Hindu Rashtra Sena and Sanatan Sanstha, who came together and took out provocative marches across the state under the banner of Sakal Hindu Samaj are still not on radar of law and order. All these marches had a lot of participation and support from BJP leaders. But no action has been taken against the BJP and participating leaders so far”, said Sadiq Basha, Branch Secretary, Kashimira, CPIM.
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has demanded that a case be filed against its organizing body, BJP and MLA Geeta Jain, former BJP MLA Narendra Mehta, BJP corporator Ravi Vyas and MNS leader Sanip Rane and Sanip Rane and Shiv Sena leader Shailesh Pandey. This will be followed up further.
Memorandum for FIR was signed by many citizens including DYFI, Haq Hai, Nirbhay Bharat, VBA , Jiddi Maratha, All India Loaners Union, Congress Party, NCP, MBPS, Pahal Foundation, Tirchi Ankh Weekly and office bearers of political parties and organisations.
