Mallikarjun Kharge’s Plan To Create Balance In G-3 And G-23

Delhi, 28th October 2022: Mallikarjun Kharge has taken over the post of Congress President and has decided to dissolve the Congress Working Committee. In their place, Kharge has constituted a steering committee of 42 members. Apart from this, he will start his campaign from Navsari in Gujarat. It is clear that Mallikarjun Kharge will now be seen as active and will try to work out of the shadow of the Gandhi family. However, the presidency of Congress will not be easy for 80-year-old Kharge. On one hand, there will be a challenge of change in front of him, and on the other hand, there is a responsibility to take everyone along.

Sadhana has become a necessity for the leaders of G-23, especially in Congress. The reason for this is that many leaders, including Ghulam Nabi Azad, have separated from the party. But there are many leaders, including Hooda in Haryana, Anand Sharma in Himachal, Manish Tewari in Punjab, and Shashi Tharoor in Kerala, who keep a lot of influence in the party. In such a situation, it will be necessary for Kharge to strengthen the party with their help in the states and give a message of unity. Shashi Tharoor has also shown his power by getting more than 1,000 votes in the election of the President. It is clear that he too has a mass base within the party.

Apart from this, the challenge before Mallikarjun Kharge will be to maintain a balance between G-3 i.e. Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi. All three leaders may be members of the same family, but on many occasions, their opinion has been different. All three leaders have their closeness, but there is a lack of coordination among all the teams at times. In such a situation, taking everyone’s opinion and making the right decision will be a challenge for Kharge. With little time left for Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh elections, it is understandable if Kharge is unable to do anything charismatic here.

But in Rajasthan, the tussle between Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot will have to come up with some solution before next year’s elections. The way Congress is moving towards discord in a state like Punjab, it can move its land far more. Sachin Pilot should not get angry, and Ashok Gehlot should also be taken care of – it will be a political test for Kharge. However, through Kharge, Congress got rid of the tag of familyism and the image of not giving representation to Dalits, which it would like to capitalize on in the future.
