Maharashtra: Governor Slams Mahavikas Aghadi Government; Nomination Of 12 MLAs Cancelled

Mumbai, 5th September 2022: The Governor has approved the withdrawal of the list of nominations for 12 Legislative Council MLAs sent by the previous Maha Vikas Aghadi government to the Shinde government of Maharashtra in 2020. The Shinde government will now send the list of new names to the Raj Bhavan. Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari had stopped this list for the last two years and finally cancelled it.

 

The list sent by Uddhav Thackeray to the Raj Bhavan includes the name of actresses Urmila Matondkar, Vijay Karanjkar, Nitin Banugde Patil and Chandrakant Raghuvanshi from the Shiv Sena, Eknath Khadse, Raju Shetty, Yashpal Bhinge and singer Anand Shinde from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) quota and Rajani Patil, Sachin Sawant, Aniruddha Wankar, Muzaffar Hussain from the Congress quota.

 

According to the sources, now the MLC seats are going to be divided between the Shinde group and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). BJP is likely to get nine MLC seats and Shinde group three seats. However, it is also said that the Shinde group is claiming four seats.
