Maharashtra: Finally, Portfolios Distributed Among Ministers; Fadnavis Gets Home Department
Mumbai, 14th August 2022: After the cabinet expansion of the Eknath Shinde government in Maharashtra, the portfolios of the ministers have also been distributed on Sunday.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has kept the Urban Development, Environment, Minorities, Transport, Disaster Management departments with him, while Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis has been given the Home and Finance portfolios.
In the cabinet expansion held in Maharashtra on August 9, nine ministers have taken an oath from the BJP quota. A similar number of MLAs have also taken an oath from the camp of Eknath Shinde. Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis took an oath on June 30. For several weeks, both of them ran the government alone. It was also criticized by the opposition parties. The ministers got many important departments from the BJP quota in the government.
BJP leader Fadnavis will be the most powerful minister in the Eknath Shinde-led government, despite being the deputy CM. Besides, the revenue and animal husbandry portfolios were allocated from the BJP quota to minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, and the state’s former BJP chief Chandrakant Patil has been allotted higher and technical education, parliamentary affairs and textiles.
The portfolios of 18 other ministers are as follows:
Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil – Revenue, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development
Sudhir Mungantiwar – Forest, Cultural Affairs and Fisheries
Chandrakant Patil- Higher and Technical Education, Textiles and Parliamentary Affairs
Vijaykumar Gavit – Tribal Development
Girish Mahajan- Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Medical Education, Sports and Youth Welfare
Gulabrao Patil- Water Supply and Sanitation
Dada Bhuse – Landport and mine
Sanjay Rathod- Food and Drug Administration
Suresh Khade – Labour department
Sandipan Bhumre- Employment Guarantee Scheme and Horticulture
Uday Samant – Industries
Professor Tanaji Sawant – Public Health and Family Welfare
Ravindra Chavan- Public Works (Except Public Undertakings), Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection
Abdul Sattar – Agriculture
Deepak Kesarkaro- School Education and Marathi Language
Atul Save – Co-operative, Other Backward and Bahujan Welfare
Shambhuraj Desai- State Excise
