Kesari Singh Solanki Joins AAP After Ticket Cut By BJP
Gujarat, 11th November 2022: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced candidates for 160 seats in Gujarat. The party has cut the tickets of about three dozen MLAs. Angered by the ticket cut, the Matar MLA rebelled and resigned from the BJP. Kesari Singh Solanki, a two-time MLA from Matar seat in Kheda district, has joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Arvind Kejriwal-led party’s state president Gopal Italia gave this information on Twitter.
Italia shared a picture welcoming Kesari Singh Solanki and praised him. Italia wrote, “Kesari Singh Solanki Ji – popular, hardworking, fearless MLA of Matar – today joined the Aam Aadmi Party after being impressed by the honest politics of Arvind Kejriwal. I welcome Shri Kesari Singh Ji to the Aam Aadmi Party. We will form an honest government in Gujarat.”
The ruling BJP on Thursday released the first list of 160 candidates. The party has fielded Kalpesh Parmar as its candidate from the Matar seat. Earlier, Solanki had won here in 2014 and 2017. Solanki had won the by-election here in 2014. The seat fell vacant after Devusinh Chauhan became a Lok Sabha MP. Chouhan is currently the Minister of State for Communications at the Centre. Solanki won the assembly elections here in 2017 as well. AAP has given a ticket to Mahipat Singh Chauhan from this seat.
