
Implement SOP effectively to prevent the outbreak of GBS virus – Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif
Mumbai, 28th January 2025: The SOP should be effectively implemented to prevent the outbreak of GBS virus. Also, the daily updated information of GBS patients should be submitted to the Commissioner of Medical Education and Research Department, such instructions were given by Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif in the meeting.
Minister Shri. Mushrif was speaking at a review meeting held at the Mantralaya regarding the outbreak of GBS virus. On this occasion, Commissioner of Medical Education and Research Department Rajiv Nivatkar, Director of Medical Education and Research Directorate Dr. Ajay Chandanwale, Director of Ayush Dr. Raman Ghungralekar etc. were present in person while all the Deans of Government Medical and Ayurveda Medical Colleges as well as the Chairman of the Task Force were present through video conferencing.
Minister Hasan Mushrif said that awareness should be created among the citizens about the preventive measures regarding this virus. This will help in preventing the spread of the virus. He also said that the health system should also make available the necessary medicine supply and equipment.
Common symptoms of GBS disease :
• Sudden weakness or paralysis in the legs or hands
• Sudden onset of walking difficulty or weakness
• Prolonged diarrhea
If you experience any of these symptoms, do not panic and get checked up at a government hospital and take preventive measures.
Preventive measures to avoid GBS virus :
• Drink boiled water to maintain good water quality.
• Consume fresh and clean food items. Cooked and uncooked food items should not be kept together to avoid infection.
• Emphasis should be placed on personal hygiene.
