Assistance Of Rs 3501 Crores To Farmers Affected By Heavy Rains In Maharashtra

Mumbai, 11th September 2022: The government on Thursday announced assistance worth Rs 3,501 crore for farmers affected by heavy rains and floods in the state between June and August.

 

Accordingly, the relief and rehabilitation department has ordered to start the distribution of this aid immediately and deposit the money in the accounts of the affected.

 

 

 

A total of 23 lakh 81 thousand 920 hectares of agriculture in the state have been damaged due to heavy rains and floods by which 5 lakh 93 thousand farmers have been affected. 18 districts of Vidarbha and Marathwada were particularly affected by heavy rains. A total of 10 thousand 894 hectares of land in 325 villages of this district were washed away due to flood while 12 thousand 788 hectares of land were damaged due to flood.

 

 

 

A few days ago, the government decided to increase assistance to those affected by natural calamities. Accordingly, the assistance of Rs 13,600 per hectare was announced for arable agriculture, Rs 27,000 per hectare for horticulture, and Rs 36,000 per hectare for perennial agriculture. Also, this assistance will be given in the limit of three hectares instead of two.

 

 

 

High-ranking sources said that the relief funds for farmers have been sent to the concerned Divisional Commissioners, and District Collectors. This assistance will be given only to those who fulfill the natural calamity criteria of the central government, and if more than 65 mm of rain has been recorded in the mandal in 24 hours and if more than 33 percent of the crops have been damaged in the village of the mandal. As announced by the state government, this assistance should be directly deposited in the bank account of the farmers through online mode. Orders have also been given.
