Many More Leaders ‘Liberated’ From Congress In Support Of Ghulam Nabi, A Big Setback In Jammu And Kashmir
New Delhi, 26th August 2022: In support of Ghulam Nabi Azad, 5 former MLAs of the state have also left the Congress. These leaders include GM Saroori, Haji Abdul Rashid, Mohd Amir Bhat, Gulzar Ahmed Wani and Chaudhry Mohd Ikram.
Ghulam Nabi Azad’s 51-year relationship with Congress is over. He resigned from all Congress posts and even primary membership, in a 5-page long letter to Sonia Gandhi today. The effect of his decision has also been shown in the Jammu and Kashmir Congress. In his support, 5 former MLAs of the state have also left Congress. These leaders include GM Saroori, Haji Abdul Rashid, Mohd Amir Bhat, Gulzar Ahmed Wani and Chaudhry Mohd Ikram. GM Saroori said that now the state president of Congress has been left alone. Apart from these leaders, former cabinet minister RS Chib has also resigned from the primary membership of the Congress.
After resigning from Congress, RS Chib said that our talk with Ghulam Nabi Azad was going on for two months. He said, ‘’We know that he is going to resign soon and Ghulam Nabi Azad was having to work against his will. He was left with no option but to resign from the primary membership of the party.’’ Meanwhile, the reaction of senior leader Sunil Jakhar, who left the Congress a few months back, has also been seen, saying, ‘’The way Congress is running, it is difficult to survive in this situation.’’
After leaving Congress, Ghulam Nabi Azad also announced the formation of a new party. He said,”I have many friends in Jammu and Kashmir, I may have been in the national politics of the Congress for a long time, but I also have a good hold in Jammu and Kashmir.’’ He is one of those leaders, whose hold is in the Valley as well as in Jammu. This is the reason why the effect of his resignation is visible and many leaders have announced to leave Congress.
