Delhi Police Releases Video of CJP Founder Abhijeet Dipke After He Was Informed of Grandmother’s Death
New Delhi, 11th October 2026: Delhi Police on Sunday released a 1-minute-and-45-second video showing Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke during his detention, including the moment he was informed about his grandmother’s death. The video shows Dipke sitting on a chair and holding his head after a woman police officer conveys the news to him.
According to the footage, a police officer subsequently offers him a bottle of water, which he declines. A police officer then asks whether he wants to attend his grandmother’s funeral and offers to arrange transportation by bus, train or flight. Dipke declines the offer, saying he is fine as he is.
The officer also offers to help him speak to a family member using a police phone. Dipke says he does not remember the phone number and asks the police to inform his father to conduct the funeral that day. The officer tells him he can reconsider the offer if he changes his mind.
Abhijeet Dipke Alleges He Was Denied Access to a Phone
After his release, Dipke travelled to Nagpur and spoke to the media. He alleged that he had asked Delhi Police to let him use a mobile phone briefly to contact his cousin, who lives in the village with his grandmother, but the request was denied.
Dipke said he wanted to speak to his cousin to understand what had happened and how his grandmother had died. He added that he had asked the police to allow him to use a phone to retrieve the number, as he could not remember it, but was not permitted to do so.
He also alleged that police did not allow him to contact his lawyer.
Dipke further questioned the timing of a request made by police for him to inform his parents about his arrest.
According to Dipke, police approached him at around 3.30 am and asked him to call his parents to inform them that he had been arrested. He questioned why his parents had not been informed earlier about his arrest or whereabouts and asked under which legal procedure he was required to make the call at that hour.
These allegations could not be independently verified from the information available.
CJP Accuses Police of Insensitivity
The Cockroach Janta Party held a press conference on Sunday afternoon, during which party member Ashutosh Ranka alleged that police personnel arrived with a camera and microphone even while informing Dipke about his grandmother’s death.
Ranka claimed that Dipke repeatedly requested permission to speak to his cousin but that his pleas went unanswered.
The party criticised the handling of the situation and raised concerns about Dipke’s ability to contact his family during detention.
Dipke’s Mother Says He Could Not See His Grandmother One Last Time
Dipke’s mother, Anita Dipke, expressed anguish over the circumstances surrounding her son’s detention and his grandmother’s funeral.
She said that if her son had been released a day earlier, he could have attended the funeral. She added that he would now be unable to see his grandmother’s face one last time.
