West Bengal: PM Modi Flags Off Bengal’s First Vande Bharat Express
Kolkata, 30th December 2022: Today (December 30), in the presence of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually flagged off the Vande Bharat express that will connect Howrah and New Jalpaiguri in Bengal. Governor CV Ananda Bose and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw were also present for the same.
According to officials, the train will save three hours of travel time compared to other trains on the route because it travels 564 kilometres in 7.45 hours. There will be three stops along the way in Bolpur, Malda, and Barsoi.
Regular travellers, tea business executives, and visitors to the Himalayas in North Bengal and Sikkim are likely to prefer the Vande Bharat express due to its modern passenger amenities. There are 16 coaches on the train, including two for the drivers.
