War of Words Escalates: Uddhav Thackeray Counters PM Modi’s “Fake” Claim with Strong Rebuke
Mumbai, 13th April 2024: With the Lok Sabha elections looming, political rhetoric has reached fever pitch as both the ruling government and the opposition engage in a flurry of attacks and counterattacks. Amidst this political turbulence, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray has fired back at a recent statement made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
PM Modi’s recent characterization of Uddhav’s party as “fake” sparked a sharp retort from Thackeray. In response, Thackeray asserted that his party is not akin to “your degree.” He underlined that Shiv Sena (UBT) was established by Bal Thackeray with the primary objective of championing the rights of the people.
Thackeray emphasized that Shiv Sena was founded by Bal Thackeray to advocate for the rights of the indigenous people of the land. He expressed dismay at the characterization of his party as “fake,” stating that its legacy and purpose are deeply rooted in serving the interests of the community, unlike a mere credential that can be deemed counterfeit.
The exchange of barbs intensified following PM Modi’s rally in Chandrapur, Maharashtra, where he accused the INDI alliance ally DMK of aligning with forces seeking to undermine Sanatan Dharma, while also targeting Congress and what he termed the “fake” Shiv Sena for purportedly supporting similar interests in Maharashtra.
Adding fuel to the fire, Home Minister Amit Shah weighed in on the controversy, remarking on the consolidation of three parties under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership in Maharashtra. Shah quipped, “One fake Shiv Sena, one fake NCP, half Congress. There is a phrase in our Gujarat, ‘teen tigada kaam bigada’.”
