USA Elections 2024: Biden Withdraws from Race; Trump Pushes for Immediate Ouster

Washington, 22nd July 2024: The Democratic Party might have pushed US President Joe Biden out of the nomination process for the 2024 Presidential election, but the Republicans are now aiming to remove him from office. This scenario could lead to Kamala Harris becoming President even before she is officially nominated or elected to the White House.

Just hours after Biden withdrew from the 2024 race, former President Donald Trump spearheaded efforts to oust him, declaring, “If he can’t run for office, he can’t run our Country!!!” Despite stepping down from the race, Biden is required by the Constitution to remain President until January 2025, when the newly elected President takes over. Trump also feigned concern for Biden, claiming the Democratic party “stole the race from Biden after he won it in the primaries,” while simultaneously criticizing the President by saying, “He is going to wake up and forget that he dropped out of the race today!”

Trump continued his attacks on “Truth Social,” stating, “Biden never had Covid. He is a threat to Democracy!” This rhetoric further fueled the political climate already plagued with mistrust and misinformation.

Republicans are reportedly planning to challenge the legality of Biden’s campaign transferring its resources and infrastructure to Harris. This issue could potentially reach the Federal Election Commission, which is equally divided between Republicans and Democrats. If the commission is deadlocked along party lines, the matter might proceed to the courts, reminiscent of the legal gridlock during the 2000 elections between George Bush and Al Gore.

Meanwhile, Harris’s campaign has started sending out emails with a “Harris for President” logo, seeking campaign donations. On Sunday, the campaign raised nearly $50 million, almost matching the $53 million Trump raised within 24 hours of his criminal conviction, signalling strong support for Harris within the Democratic Party.

President Biden’s decision to exit the race appears to have been influenced by declining poll numbers rather than a divine revelation, which he had previously cited as his reason for potentially quitting. Internal polls indicated he was losing in nearly every battleground state, making a victory highly unlikely, and major donors had begun to pull back their contributions.
