Sonia Gandhi Remains Upbeat Amid Exit Poll Predictions, Anticipates Congress Surge in 2024 Lok Sabha Elections
New Delhi, 3rd June 2024: On Monday, Sonia Gandhi responded to the exit poll results, expressing optimism regarding the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections of 2024. She conveyed that the Congress is eagerly anticipating results contrary to the projections made by pollsters.
When questioned about her outlook on the election outcome set to be unveiled on Tuesday, June 4, Sonia Gandhi emphasized the need for patience. She articulated, “We are very hopeful that our outcomes will diverge significantly from the indications provided by the exit polls.”
Many exit polls foresee Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s continuation in power for a third consecutive term, with the BJP-led NDA expected to secure a substantial majority in the Lok Sabha. Despite certain exit polls indicating a landslide victory for the NDA, projecting over 400 seats, Sonia Gandhi and other opposition parties have rebuffed these forecasts, labeling them as “fantasy.”
Dismissing the exit polls as biased towards Modi, Rahul Gandhi labeled them as “Modi media polls.” He asserted that the INDIA bloc, invoking a popular Punjabi song, anticipates securing 295 seats and forming the government.
During an event commemorating the 100th birth anniversary of Karunanidhi, Sonia Gandhi expressed gratitude for the opportunity to join her DMK colleagues on such a significant occasion. She reminisced about her interactions with Karunanidhi, highlighting his wisdom and guidance, while extending her best wishes to the attendees.
