RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat Warns Against New Religious Disputes, Stresses India’s Role as a Global Model

Pune, 20th December 2024: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat criticized the emerging trend of individuals attempting to ignite disputes similar to the Ram temple controversy at various religious sites, calling it “unacceptable.” He emphasized the importance of India setting an example for global harmony, where different faiths and ideologies coexist peacefully.

Speaking in Pune as part of the “Vishwaguru Bharat” lecture series, Bhagwat referred to the recent debates over the origins of places of worship, including Shahi Jama Masjid in UP’s Sambhal and Ajmer Sharif in Rajasthan. He urged the nation to learn from past mistakes and work towards making India a global model of inclusivity, emphasizing the need to avoid contentious issues that stir unnecessary divisions.

He explained that the Ram temple issue was rooted in faith and the belief of Hindus that it should be built, but he condemned the raising of new disputes over sites driven by hatred or animosity. Bhagwat argued that the solution to reducing societal friction lies in returning to India’s ancient cultural values, where extremism, aggression, and disrespecting other faiths have no place. “In this country, there is no concept of majority or minority; we are all one. Everyone should be free to practice their faith,” he concluded.
