Rahul Gandhi Accuses Modi, Adani, and Amit Shah of Protecting Their Own Interests
Mumbai, 18th November 2024: On Monday, Rahul Gandhi criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “ek hai toh safe hai” (if united, we are safe) slogan, linking it to the controversial Dharavi redevelopment project being handed over to the Adani Group. “Modi’s slogan suggests that unity equals safety. But the real question is: who is united, and whose safety is being ensured?” he remarked during a press briefing.
He continued, “The answer is clear—it’s Modi, Adani, and Amit Shah who are safe. Meanwhile, it’s the people of Maharashtra and Dharavi who bear the losses.”
Rahul framed the upcoming Maharashtra election as a battle between the wealthy elite and the disadvantaged, promising that a Congress government would prioritize farmers, the poor, and the unemployed. “This election is about ideology. It pits a few billionaires against the masses. The billionaires want Mumbai’s land, but our vision is focused on aiding farmers, addressing poverty, and creating jobs. The key issues are employment and inflation,” he explained.
BJP leader Amit Malviya responded by accusing Rahul Gandhi of hypocrisy, pointing out that the same corporate group Gandhi criticized was also linked to Robert Vadra. “On November 10th, 2024, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy admitted to taking money from the Adani Group,” Malviya stated. “Rahul Gandhi attacks the same group while ignoring the fact that Congress-ruled states have signed numerous deals with Adani in the past decade. It was actually the Uddhav Thackeray-led MVA government that initially awarded the Dharavi redevelopment project to Adani, under very generous terms, which the MahaYuti had to revise to protect the interests of Mumbai and Dharavi residents. And let’s not forget the ties between Adani and Robert Vadra,” he added.
