Pune: Tilak Family Should Be Considered For Kasba Assembly Constituency Elections – Shailesh Tilak
Pune, 21st January 2023: At a time when discussions have started on who will be nominated by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the Kasba Assembly by-election, Shailesh Tilak, the husband of the late MLA Mukta Tilak of Kasba Assembly constituency, has publicly claimed his candidacy for the first time.
Shailesh Tilak has taken a clear stance that the Tilak family should be considered for the by-elections. He has clarified that the party leadership will soon be informed that he is interested in the election, and due to his public stance, curiosity has arisen about what decision the BJP leadership will take.
Kasba Assembly MLA Mukta Tilak passed away recently while battling cancer. The by-election program for this vacancy has been announced. Efforts are being made by BJP to make this election unopposed. As Congress has expressed its determination to contest the election, the chances of the election going uncontested are slim.
Therefore, the decision on whether to hold the by-election unopposed or which party to field its candidate will be taken unanimously in a meeting of senior leaders of NCP, Shiv Sena, and Congress.
After the election program was announced, the name of Pune MP Girish Bapat’s daughter-in-law Swarda was discussed along with former standing committee chairman Hemant Rasane, former house leader Ganesh Bidkar, and Dheeraj Ghate. After the death of Mukta Tilak, a faction of the party was of the opinion that one of the Tilak family members should be nominated. However, Shailesh Tilak did not take any public stand regarding it.
After the by-election program was announced, Shailesh said that he was willing to run for the first time while talking to ‘Loksatta’ newspaper.
Shailesh Tilak said, “There is a feeling that one of the Tilak family members should be nominated to complete Mukta’s incomplete work. I am also willing to be a candidate and my son Kunal’s public relations work is also going on through a different medium. Therefore, the senior leaders of the party should give preference to the Tilak family members for their candidature.”
“There has been no discussion with the party leaders in this regard yet. However, this feeling will soon be conveyed to the leaders.” Shailesh explained that senior leaders of the party will take the decision as to who should be nominated.
Since Shailesh has taken a public stand for the first time regarding the candidature, the BJP circle has become curious about what decision the party leadership takes in this regard.
