The groundbreaking ceremony, which marked the initiation of various development projects, was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and other prominent dignitaries.
The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), in collaboration with the Netherlands and Germany, is spearheading the construction of the multispecialty hospital in Ward No. 30 in Warje. The event took place at Arvind Bartakke Hospital, and attendees included Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, MP Supriya Sule, MLA Bhimrao Tapkir, and Pune Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar.
Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis, addressing the gathering, highlighted the historic nature of the project, as it marks the first time a multispecialty hospital is being established at Warje with financial support from Germany and the Netherlands. He emphasized the project’s profitability, with the insurance company of the Netherlands providing risk guarantees.
Fadnavis noted that hospital rates would be lower due to a minimal interest rate on hospital expenses, making quality healthcare more accessible. The hospital is set to feature world-class facilities recognized by the Netherlands.
Fadnavis expressed optimism about the project’s success, suggesting that similar health facilities could be established in Pune and Maharashtra through private partnerships in the future.
The Deputy Chief Minister also announced plans for a high-quality police station in Warje, a newly constructed flyover to alleviate traffic congestion, and reassured support from the state government for the overall development of Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad city, and the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) area.
Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar underscored the significance of medical facilities, especially in light of the recent COVID-19 crisis. He stated that the government is committed to increasing medical facilities, with the multispecialty hospital aimed at providing better services to the common man. Pawar revealed that 10 percent of beds in the hospital would be provided for free, and 6 percent at government rates. Another 550-bed hospital is also under construction in Baner.
