Pune Rural Police Seize Rs 5 Crore In Cash Amid Election Code Of Conduct
Pune, 22nd October 2024: Pune Rural police confiscated ₹ 5 crore in cash on Monday, coinciding with the model code of conduct that has been in effect in Maharashtra since October 15 for the upcoming assembly elections on November 20, according to an official report.
The cash was discovered in the evening during a police checkpoint near Khed-Shivapur plaza on the Mumbai-Bengaluru highway.
“During the checkpoint, a vehicle heading towards Satara was stopped, and a search revealed ₹ 5 crore in cash among the four individuals inside,” stated the Pune Rural police official. “The police and district election officials are currently counting the money, and an investigation is underway to determine the source and other relevant details.”
In a related development, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut posted on X, alleging that “cash amounting to ₹ 15 crore has been seized from a vehicle associated with an MLA from the Shiv Sena faction led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.”
