Pune: Relief For Congress, Shock For BJP As Balasaheb Dabhekar Withdraws His Candidature For Kasba By-Election
Pune, 9th February 2023: Congress leader Balasaheb Dabhekar rebelled by filing nomination papers in Kasba Assembly Constituency by-elections. The joint efforts of Congress, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), and Shiv Sena office bearers to reconcile their rebellion have been successful.
Hence, Congress candidate Ravindra Dhangekar was relieved as Dabhekar decided to withdraw his candidature. However, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is expected to suffer a severe blow.
Many dramatic events took place on Wednesday for Balasaheb Dabhekar’s candidature to be withdrawn. Many Congress leaders were requesting Dabhekar to withdraw the application. At 11.00 am, Vishal Dhanwade of Shiv Sena (Thackeray group), Ankush Kakade of NCP, and Shrikant Shirole of Congress met Dabhekar and requested him to withdraw the application. But he was firm on his candidacy.
At 4:00 pm, Congress party in-charge MLA Sangram Thopte, city president Arvind Shinde, Abhay Chhajed, Kamal Vyawahare, and Ajit Darekar met Balasaheb in his office. At that time, Ankush Kakade of NCP was also interviewed there. Everyone requested Balasaheb he should withdraw, and the party will remove the injustice, but Balasaheb said that he can not decide without talking to his workers.
Last night at 11.00 pm, MLA Sangram Thopte and Ankush Kakade discussed with his workers in Bala saheb’s office. From there, he had a detailed discussion with Congress state president Nana Patole over the phone. After that, Balasaheb announced his decision to withdraw the application, honouring Nana Patole’s request.
At 11.00 pm, when the meeting was going on, BJP MLA Madhuri Misal and Ganesh Bidkar reached there. Although it was not clear why they had come, Dabhekar clearly said, “I belong to the Congress. I cannot move away from the Congress.”
