Pune: Political Tensions Escalate as Bhujbal and Jarange Engage in Verbal Sparring
Indapur, 10th December 2023: In a recent turn of events in the Maharashtra state, tensions between Chhagan Bhujbal and Manoj Jarange have reached a new high, with both political figures engaging in a war of words. The situation has escalated to the point where public gatherings are becoming battlegrounds for verbal attacks and physical confrontations.
Chhagan Bhujbal, the Minister of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection and OBC leader, is alleged to be attempting to create unrest in the state. Meanwhile, Bhujbal claims that Manoj Jarange is countering the narrative by holding daily meetings, adding fuel to the already intense political atmosphere.
Responding to Jarange’s statement that seemed to set a deadline of December 24th for Bhujbal, the latter issued a warning, stating that any “Dadagiri” (bullying) will be met with an equal response. Bhujbal went on to criticize Jarange by comparing him to a donkey, questioning the heights to which he has taken the situation.
Bhujbal, a seasoned politician, defended his legacy by highlighting his roles as Mayor and MLA of Mumbai since 1985. He ridiculed Jarange for allegedly calling Bhujbal an idiot from Yeola (येवल्याचं यडपट) and challenged him to first become the Sarpanch of a Gram Panchayat.
The political tensions have spilt over into the local communities, with incidents reported in Ghansawangi village in Jalna District. Flex boards were erected, expressing support for MLA Rohit Pawar, leading to a clash where a village resident was allegedly beaten for raising concerns during Pawar’s rally.
Chhagan Bhujbal emphasized the constitutional right to freedom of movement under Article 19 and criticized the alleged selective enforcement of “Gaobandi” (village ban). He questioned the practice of allowing certain individuals while restricting others from participating in public events.
Leaders from various political parties, including Rashtriya Samaj Paksha President Mahadev Jankar, expressed their views on the ongoing situation. The leaders spoke out against the escalating tensions and called for a resolution to maintain peace in the state.
In anticipation of political gatherings, the administration took precautions by deploying a large police force of over three hundred. Separate seating arrangements for men and women were made in the grand courtyard, emphasizing the need for heightened security given the potential for unrest.
