Pune: Dr. Amol Kolhe Criticizes Central Government’s Agricultural Policies, Says “Get Well Soon” to Adhalarao Patil
Pune, 11th April 2024: Dr Amol Kolhe, the current MP for Shirur, expressed concerns about the plight of farmers, citing the impact of the central government’s agricultural policies. He referenced Mahatma Phule, who in 1883 depicted the farmers’ struggles powerfully and realistically and resonates even today. Dr. Amol emphasized the need to address and combat these wrong agricultural policies.
On the occasion of Mahatma Phule’s birth anniversary, MP Supriya Sule, MP Amol Kolhe, and MLA Ravindra Dhangekar, all representatives of the Mahavikas Aghadi, paid their respects to Mahatma Phule at Mahatma Phule Wada. During the event, Kolhe criticized the BJP in his interaction with the media, highlighting issues faced by farmers and the central government’s agricultural policies.
Dr. Amol Kolhe emphasized that Mahatma Phule’s book “Shetkaryacha Asud” from 1883 highlighted the struggles of farmers and proposed paths to their development. Kolhe pointed out that contemporary farmers, such as those producing onions, soybeans, and milk, are facing significant losses due to flawed central government policies. He expressed concern for small landholding farmers who are being impacted adversely and emphasized the importance of advocating for justice for farmers as a way of honoring Mahatma Phule’s legacy.
In response to criticism from Shirur Lok Sabha Constituency candidate Shivajirao Adhalarao Patil regarding the constituency’s reputation being tarnished by frequent party changes in five years, Dr. Kolhe replied with a sharp retort. He suggested that Patil might be looking at himself in the mirror and noted that his statements were erratic, making criticisms without basis. Dr. Kolhe wished Patil well, using the phrase “Get well soon” and encouraged him to focus on discussing important issues like the ban on onion exports and the struggles of milk farmers instead of making baseless criticisms and spreading falsehoods.
