Prime Minister Narendra Modi Will Attend Guru Nanak Dev Jayanti Celebrations
Delhi, 7th November 2022: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take part in a function to mark the 553rd birth anniversary of the first Sikh Guru Nanak Dev on Monday evening, officials stated. The ceremony will be held at the residence of the National Commission for Minorities, Iqbal Singh Lalpura. Officials said that Prime Minister Modi will offer prayers on the occasion and will also address the gathering.
Guru Nanak Dev, the first of the 10 Sikh Gurus, was born on 15 April 1469 in the village of Talwandi, situated on the banks of the Ravi River, on the full moon day of Kartik month in 1469. Guru Nanak’s father’s name was Mehta Kalu and his mother’s name was Tripta Devi. He was the founder of Sikhism.
Hence every year, this day is celebrated as Guru Purab or Prakash Parv. The birth of Guru Nanak Dev is celebrated as Guru Parv across the world. Prime Minister Modi often participates in programs related to Sikh Gurus and also visits Gurudwaras to pay obeisance.
