Prime Minister Narendra Modi Returns to India After Productive Three-Day Visit to the United States
Washington, 24th September 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to India on Monday after concluding a productive three-day trip to the United States. During his visit, he participated in the Quad Leaders’ meeting, addressed a significant gathering of the Indian community, and spoke at the Summit of the Future at the UN General Assembly.
On Sunday, he engaged in bilateral discussions with the leaders of Japan and Australia, focusing on enhancing cooperation for mutual benefits and ensuring peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.

PM Modi arrived in the US on Friday and attended the Quad Leaders’ meeting in Wilmington, Delaware, hosted by President Joe Biden. The summit, which took place on Saturday, included participation from Prime Ministers Anthony Albanese of Australia and Fumio Kishida of Japan.
In a notable gesture, President Biden held a bilateral meeting with PM Modi at his home. During this meeting, they discussed the advancement of India acquiring 31 long-endurance MQ-9B armed drones from General Atomics, emphasizing a mutual commitment to increasing military hardware exchanges.
Additionally, PM Modi met with his Australian and Japanese counterparts on the sidelines of the summit. A significant highlight of the bilateral discussions was the return of 297 antiquities to India, with some displayed at President Biden’s residence.
Throughout the Quad Leadership Summit, PM Modi emphasized India’s commitment to collaboration and engagement for growth with various partners in the Indo-Pacific. The leaders also announced the Quad Cancer Moonshot initiative aimed at combating cervical cancer in the region, with India pledging $7.5 million to this cause.
Furthermore, the Quad nations introduced a new regional Maritime Initiative for Training in the Indo-Pacific (MAITRI) to help regional partners effectively monitor their waters and enforce laws against unlawful activities.
Following the Quad meeting, PM Modi travelled to New York for the second day of his visit. He addressed a large assembly of Indian-Americans at the Nassau Coliseum, highlighting India as a “land of opportunities” and setting ambitious goals for the nation during his third term. He also announced the establishment of two new consulates in Boston and Los Angeles to meet the needs of the growing Indian American community.
The gathering drew over 13,000 attendees from across 40 states, primarily from New York and New Jersey, with transportation facilitated by 60 charter buses. PM Modi praised the contributions of Indian-Americans in strengthening India-US relations, referring to them as “India’s brand ambassadors.”
After this event, he held a productive roundtable discussion with CEOs from leading American tech firms, where he underscored India’s growth potential and explored opportunities for bilateral collaboration in sectors such as AI, quantum computing, and semiconductors.
On the final day of his visit, PM Modi addressed the UN’s Summit of the Future, emphasizing that “the success of humanity lies in our collective strength, not on the battlefield.” He began his speech with a “Namaskar,” representing the voice of 1.4 billion Indians at the UN.
During his address, PM Modi reiterated India’s commitment to advocating for the rights of all humanity and contributing to global prosperity through thought, action, and diplomacy.
