PM to lay foundation stone of 8 AMRUT projects worth around Rs 2,000 crores in Maharashtra; Visit To Karnataka And Tamil Nadu Also Planned
New Delhi, 17th January 2024: In a comprehensive tour scheduled for January 19, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on visits to Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. The day will witness the inauguration and foundation stone laying of various crucial development projects, showcasing the government’s commitment to nationwide progress.
Solapur, Maharashtra – 10:45 AM:
Prime Minister Modi will commence the day by inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for multiple development projects in Solapur, Maharashtra. Notably, the cornerstone will be laid for eight Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) projects, collectively valued at around Rs. 2,000 crores. Additionally, he will dedicate over 90,000 houses completed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-Urban) in Maharashtra. The beneficiaries will include individuals from various backgrounds, such as handloom workers, vendors, power loom workers, rag pickers, Bidi workers, and drivers. The distribution of the 1st and 2nd instalments to 10,000 beneficiaries of PM-SVANIDHI in Maharashtra will also commence during the event.
Bengaluru, Karnataka – 2:45 PM:
Moving on to Bengaluru, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the Boeing India Engineering & Technology Center (BIETC) campus. This state-of-the-art facility, constructed with an investment of Rs. 1,600 crores, marks Boeing’s largest investment outside the USA. The 43-acre campus is poised to become a pivotal hub for collaboration with India’s startup, private, and government sectors, fostering innovation in aerospace and defence. During the Bengaluru leg of the tour, the Prime Minister will launch the Boeing Sukanya Program, aiming to empower more girls to pursue careers in the aviation sector. The initiative will establish STEM Labs at 150 locations, offering essential skills training for girls and women, along with scholarships for aspiring female pilots.
Chennai, Tamil Nadu – 6:00 PM:
In the final leg of the tour, Prime Minister Modi will participate in the opening ceremony of the 6th Khelo India Youth Games 2023 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai. Marking the first-ever occurrence in South India, the Games will be hosted in four cities across Tamil Nadu from January 19 to 31, 2024. The mascot for this edition, Veera Mangai, symbolizes the courage and strength of Indian women, inspired by the historical figure Rani Velu Nachiyar, who fought against British colonial rule.
The Games will witness over 5600 athletes across 26 sporting disciplines, including traditional sports like Kalaripayattu, Gatka, Thang ta, Kabaddi, and Yogasana. Silambam, a traditional sport of Tamil Nadu, will be introduced as a demo sport for the first time. Additionally, Prime Minister Modi will launch projects worth approximately Rs 250 crore in the Broadcasting sector, including the revamped DD Podhigai channel as DD Tamil, 12 Akashvani FM projects in 8 States, and 4 DD transmitters in Jammu and Kashmir. The foundation stone for 26 new FM transmitter projects in 12 States will also be laid during the ceremony.
