Mushrif on Pune Porsche Incident’s Blood Scandal: “Dr. Taware’s Actions Are Inexcusable”
Pune/Kolhapur, 30th May 2024: Two doctors and one peon from Sassoon General Hospital in Pune were arrested on charges of tampering with a blood sample to protect a minor involved in the Kalyani Nagar Porsche incident. In this incident, the minor, allegedly drunk and speeding, killed two young IT engineers. The blood samples were crucial for testing alcohol levels. Sassoon Hospital, already controversial, was found involved in another conspiracy. In a press conference yesterday, Dr Vinayak Kale, Dean of Sassoon Hospital and BJ Medical College, revealed that one of the accused, Dr Ajay Taware, was appointed at Sassoon Hospital following a recommendation from Wadgaon Sheri MLA Sunil Tingare of the NCP (Ajit Pawar ).
However, following this revelation, Dr. Vinayak Kale has been placed on forced leave. Accusations suggest that Dr. Kale is facing repercussions because he named ministers and politicians. Meanwhile, Dr. Ajay Taware, Dr. Shrihari Halnor, and peon Atul Ghatkamble have been arrested and suspended due to their involvement in the blood sample tampering case.
Maharashtra’s Minister of Medical Education, Hasan Mushrif, while speaking in Kolhapur, stated, “Regarding Dr. Taware, I have spoken many times. I appointed him due to a recommendation from MLA Sunil Tingare. However, before that, in the same Sassoon Hospital, a man died due to a rat bite, and action was taken against Dr. Ajay Taware in that case as well. He was relieved of his duties at that time, but even after his removal, he engaged in this blood sample tampering. This is an inexcusable offense, and he will face severe consequences to ensure that no one ever repeats this mistake.”
Mushrif continued, “For the blood sample fiasco, a committee was appointed to investigate at Sassoon. The committee made allegations against Dr. Vinayak Kale, stating that he did not fulfill his responsibilities and showed recklessness, which is why he has been placed on forced leave. What Dr. Taware did for money is very wrong. This outside influence will not be tolerated. Proper action will be taken, and the accused will be punished, no matter how big or influential they are. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar will also not hesitate to take action.”
