Mumbai: Shiv Sena Removes Rajesh Shah as Deputy Leader After Worli Hit-and-Run Incident
Mumbai, 10th July 2024: In Mumbai, the Shiv Sena, led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, has removed Rajesh Shah from his position as deputy leader following his involvement in a hit-and-run incident in Worli. Rajesh Shah, formerly a senior figure in the Sena’s Palghar unit and a former district chief, was arrested by Mumbai Police along with his driver, Rajrishi Bidawat, on charges related to tampering with evidence.
The incident, which occurred early on Sunday, involved a BMW registered to Rajesh Shah colliding with a scooter ridden by Kaveri Nakhwa and her husband Pradeep, residents of Worli Koliwada. Kaveri Nakhwa tragically lost her life in the accident. Rajesh Shah’s son, Mihir Shah, who was driving the BMW, was arrested a day later after a brief period on the run.
Shiv Sena MLA Aaditya Thackeray has strongly advocated for Mihir Shah to face murder charges, criticizing the delay in his arrest and questioning potential police lapses. “The focus should be on ensuring justice for the victim rather than political posturing,” Thackeray emphasized.
The incident has raised significant concerns and questions about the handling of the case by law enforcement authorities, including issues related to the delay in apprehending Mihir Shah and the integrity of investigative processes.
