Maharashtra: Student Arrested For Posting Offensive Posts About CM Eknath Shinde And Deputy CM Fadnavis
Mumbai, 30th October 2022: Student who posted defamatory posts against state Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis have been arrested. This action has been taken in Ahmednagar. The accused students were brought to Mumbai and produced in the local court. The court has sentenced them to four days of police custody. The police have expressed the possibility that some more people are involved in this.
Meanwhile, the police detained another person. The name of this 29-year-old student is Ganesh Narayan Gote. He is a student at Mahatma Phule Agricultural University in the Ahmednagar district. Along with Eknath Shinde, Devendra Fadnavis used abusive language on Twitter against women MPs and women journalists. Maharashtra Cyber Police arrested him on Saturday.
A complaint was filed with Maharashtra Cyber on October 14 for circulating derogatory content about the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, women MPs, and women journalists through a Twitter account. After that Maharashtra Cyber Police started investigating the matter. To avoid detection by the police, the accused used public Wi-Fi, hotspots, and VPNs to transmit abusive content. The Maharashtra Cyber Police on Friday raided the Mahatma Phule Agricultural University in Rahuri, Nagar, based on technical evidence and arrested two suspects. He was brought to Mumbai on Saturday. After the investigation, Ganesh Gote (29) was arrested.
The court has remanded the accused to police custody till November 2. Further investigation in this matter is being conducted by Maharashtra Cyber Police Inspector Prashant Chaugule under the guidance of Upper Director General of Police Madhukar Pandey, Special Inspector General of Police, Yashasvi Yadav, Superintendent of Police Sanjay Shintre.
