Kangana Ranaut’s Film “Emergency” Receives UA Certificate from CBFC, Release Date Pending

Mumbai, 9th September 2024: Kangana Ranaut’s film Emergency has been granted a UA certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The CBFC has requested that certain scenes be edited and disclaimers be added to clarify the historical events depicted in the film.

The film’s release date has not yet been determined.

A UA certificate means the film is suitable for viewers of various ages but requires parental guidance. ‘Emergency’ was submitted for review to the CBFC on July 8. However, the film faced controversy last month when Sikh organizations, including Akal Takht and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, called for its ban due to its portrayal of the Sikh community.

Several Sikh groups reached out to the censor board and even pursued legal action.

In response to the delays, Kangana Ranaut, the film’s director and producer, announced on X, “With a heavy heart, I must inform you that the release of my directorial Emergency has been postponed. We are awaiting certification from the censor board. A new release date will be announced soon. Thank you for your patience and understanding.”

Originally, Emergency, which also stars Anupam Kher and Shreyas Talpade, was set to release on September 6.
